Umineko no Naku Koro ni – 09

Summary:

Checking up on Kanon and Jessica, the remaining nine find only her corpse behind the door to her room, marked with a pentagram. It is speculated that only one of the servants master keys could have locked the door and therefore they are suspected by Rosa, and further attention is directed at the missing Kanon as the culprit or that his key was used. Battler reflects on possible events and stumble across the fact that Kanon’s key is still in Jessica’s pocket. However it brings them back where they started; Suspecting the servants. Meanwhile Meta-Battler struggles with the new red truths he has been struck with Beatrice by.

Rosa beckons the servants to leave, having only the Ushiromiya family residents alone in the Parlour. She admits that while Beatrice may be responsible, that there is the possibility of the servants working with each other or with her. The wolf and sheep story is emphasised, and Rosa believes that if they are seperated the wolves will reveal themselves.

The servants rather bemused by Rosa’s actions are shocked to find a badly injured Kanon stumbles in the back door, bleeding all over the floor. They rush him over to a couch, while gasping for air, he accuses Rosa as being the culprit, and Nanjo cares to his wound. Shannon realises something and runs out of the room, and Kanon now feeling a lot better rips open his stiches and plays around with his gaping wound. When Shannon returns, Kanon is revealed to be not who he says he is and slices open the necks of Kumasawa and Nanjo. Gohda pins him down and Genji burns him with a cloth covered in spider webs that Shannon retrieved. The screaming imposter dematerializes and the servants are left shocked.

Thoughts:

Rosa is badass. She takes control of the scene and isn’t afraid of anything. Well! Not much happened at the beginning of the episode, pretty much raised more questions and debunked some of my own that I had from the previous episode. While I’m fully aware it’s to detract attention from something else; the wolf and sheep mechanic was definately a nice mention and held up the debate, but still the main point was the closed room murder case and the keys.

However the end of this episode, was altogether weird and obscure, which is awesome. Kanon stumbling through the door was unexpected and not being who he seemed to be was a massive shock. He had the Red eyes and the blue particle sword, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he was one of the Stakes. Kanon prodding his gaping wound was both sickening and incredible, I hope it isn’t censored in the DVD.

I need to form some kind of catchup synopsis with the Red Truths and who was killed when, because I noticed something rather perculiar. Beatrice mentioned in red that when the door is locked, noone can enter. It makes for some rather interesting suggestions. Hehe.
